The Ohio State football team did a good job to come from behind to land their latest wide receiver recruit.

A few months ago Kojo Antwi was ready to eliminate Ohio State from his list of possible schools. According to Jeremy Birmingham of Letterman Row, OSU receivers coach Brian Hartline got on the phone to Antwi as soon as he heard the news. That phone call began a comeback that culminated in Antwi’s commitment to the Buckeyes Monday morning.

Even coming into the big recruiting month of June, Ohio State was hardly the favorite to land the Suwanee, Georgia native. Georgia was considered the clear leader. Antwi scheduled a June 18th visit, but some questioned if he’d go through with it after Kaleb Brown became the third receiver to join OSU’s 2022 class. Not only did he go through with the visit, Antwi told Birmingham knew he wanted to be a Buckeye.

Antwi said he allowed too many people to get into his head when he was on the verge of no longer considering Ohio State. He cites a family-like atmosphere and Hartline as two big reasons he decided to commit. Antwi liked Hartline’s straightforward approach and knows the path to playing time in a loaded receiver group is not an easy or quick one, and he’s just fine with that.

The addition of Antwi gives the Ohio State football program the number three (Caleb Burton), five (Kaleb Brown), sixteen (Antwi), and twenty-one (Kyion Grayes) receivers in the country. It also strengthened their hold at the top of the recruiting rankings for the 2022 class. As I said the other day, he is a guy who can take a bubble screen and turn it into a long gain or he can blow the top off of coverage and get open deep.

Next. A deep dive into OSU's five-star recruits. dark

Getting a commitment after you were nearly eliminated and still trailed the home-state school a little over a month ago is a very impressive recruiting win for Ohio State. From what I’m hearing, this may not be the last impressive recruiting win this summer for Ryan Day and his staff. Could another five-star be joining the class in August? Stay tuned, folks.
