One of Ohio State football fans’ favorite things to do is wallow in the misery of TTUN fans.

This article is not my fault. I tried to be nice. I tried to stop poking fun at Michigan folks. I was told I shouldn’t pick on them because every dog has its day. Well, while the Maize and Blue dog is waiting for its day, it keeps saying dumb things. If it is going to keep saying dumb things, I’m going to keep pointing out those dumb things. I’ve come to believe they just can’t help it.

Let’s start with a Michigan media member who made a dumb post on Twitter. This person astutely pointed out the Wolverines have been to eleven Rose Bowls in the past forty years, while the Ohio State football team have been to just four. I’m going to let that one sink in for a minute.

Where do you even start with this one? Two national championships compared to a half of one (one poll voted for Michigan, the other for Nebraska in 1998), three other appearances in national championship games, and four playoff appearances. Then there is the Big Ten championship game Michigan has never appeared in. The Buckeyes have been to six, including the last four in a row.

If you’re going to post something that ridiculous on social media, I’m going to keep pounding away on you. So, let’s look at how many Rose Bowls the Ohio State football team would have appeared in if college football had never changed and the Big Ten champion still went to Pasadena.

When you add all that I mentioned in the previous paragraph and factor in the two times (by my count) the Buckeyes were burned by that stupid and antiquated last to go rule the conference had for years, I come up with thirteen Rose Bowls the Ohio State football team would have played in over the last forty years. Maybe his next tweet will be about that impressive Big Ten East Co-Champions banner the Wolverines hung a few years ago.

At least the dumb thing he said was rooted in some facts. The guy who said this next dumb thing is just delusional. Ready for this? Michigan is a serious contender for a spot in the playoff. Yes, he’s talking about the same program which celebrated a 48-42 triple-overtime win over Rutgers last season. If you saw the end of the game, they did indeed celebrate. Sorry, just not seeing this whole playoff contender thing.

Well, wait, before we toss this aside as just another dumb thing said by a Michigan person, I guess we should at least listen to some of his reasoning on his claim. He said Jim Harbaugh will have extra motivation this year because he took a large pay cut.

So, because Jimmy agreed to a lot less money rather than find employment elsewhere, he’s all of a sudden going to get better at developing quarterbacks? He’s going to get better at player development overall? That leads us to this.

Another reason the Wolverines are a playoff contender is because of their super-duper, all-world, you’ve-never-seen-anything-like-him TRUE FRESHMAN quarterback. Let me get this one straight. A coach who, as I said, has a mediocre track record of developing college quarterbacks is going to take a TRUE FRESHMAN and turn him into the caliber of quarterback you need to compete with college football’s elite programs. Yeah, sure. By the middle of the season, he’ll have excuses flowing like a fountain in Rome.

If I can give some friendly advice on how to be a good fan (and media member) it is this: learn to be honest about your favorite team. Learn to step back and make an unbiased assessment. Michigan insider Isaiah Hole of Wolverine Wire was on Big Ten Today on Sirius/XM Radio the other day.

He gave some very honest opinions about the Wolverines, including saying they are a tier-three team in the Big Ten. He spoke extensively about the team for 2021 and the program in general. I didn’t agree with all of what he had to say, but I can respect him being forthright with his opinions.

Next. Texas pipeline to OSU should continue. dark

I really tried to leave them alone and not pick on them. I was willing to let them live in peace, but some just can’t help but say dumb things. When they do, you can bet I’ll point them out.
