Ohio State football close to locking down four-star DL
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is about to land another top prospect, this time on the defensive line after he really enjoyed his visit to Columbus.
June was a busy month for everyone involved with the Ohio State football program and its recruiting efforts. Slowly but surely they are starting to see the fruits of their labors. They are about to get a four-star defensive lineman for the class of 2022.
Chris McClellan is a four-star prospect from Owasso, Oklahoma. McClellan has offers from several big boys, including USC, Arkansas, Florida, and Oklahoma. It seems that he will be spurning his home-state school and will be taking his talents to Columbus.
According to 247Sports’ Bill Kurleic, he has McClellan crystal balled to Ohio Stated. That means the Buckeyes will land yet another top defensive line prospect. He is a solid four-star prospect with some good upside if he gets some good coaching, which he obviously would get in Columbus.
Based on the tape that I’ve seen of the kid, he gets off the ball pretty quick for a guy his size. He stands at 6’3 and 295 pounds. He’s got some room to bulk up too and increase his strength. For someone that big already, that’s a scary sight for the opposition.
Ohio State would love to get him and add him to the cornucopia of defensive lineman they love to recruit. We talked about how they need more for future classes, and grabbing McClellan would be a good first step. Ryan Day has to be happy with everything that is about to fall in place.
It’s unclear as to when McClellan will make his official announcement, but the rumor is that it will happen within the next few days. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t by the end of the week personally. But we just have to wait and see what he decides to do.
This could be the start of landing some really good defensive prospects.
