Ohio State basketball: Buckeyes to host Duke
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team will be hosting Duke during Coach K’s farewell tour this season thanks to the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
The Ohio State basketball team will get to host Duke while Coach K is still the head man one more time. Thanks to the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, the Buckeyes will be taking on the Blue Devils in Columbus. It will be a very high-profile early-season matchup for both teams.
Ohio State very well could be the higher-ranked team in this matchup. They have a good core group of guys coming back and might even get E.J. Liddell back to that team. They also have a nice group of freshman players coming in that can help the team as well.
Duke also lost their best player to the NBA Draft. It will be Coach K’s final Duke team and I’m sure they will be fighting to win every possible game for the legendary coach. Whether or not they are able to beat the Buckeyes with that motivation remains to be seen.
Chris Holtmann will surely do something special for Coach K when Duke does visit. He certainly deserves it after the career that he has had. But just because he will get a nice ovation and sendoff doesn’t mean that the Buckeyes are going to take this game lightly.
The game is scheduled for November 30th right now. No time has been announced yet, but I’m sure it will be a primetime game because both teams are likely to be ranked in the top 10. I’d be shocked if it wasn’t promoted very highly.
This is a great early-season matchup that has me excited for basketball season already!
