The CFP appears to be headed toward expansion. Which teams will contend for a spot to challenge Alabama, Clemson, and the Ohio State football team in what may be one of the final fields of four?

The 2021 college football season is rapidly approaching so naturally debates for the sport’s most important question will begin heating up too. Who’s in? Last year’s College Football Playoff featured Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and the Ohio State football team. Expect more of the same in this year’s edition aside from the Fighting Irish.

Despite Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State all replacing its starting QBs, I still expect each of the three modern powers to reach the pinnacle of the CFB world again come December. Georgia, Iowa State, and Oklahoma are all worthy contenders, but which team will join the usual suspects in the CFP to compete for it all?

In the College Football Playoff era, only 11 different teams have been selected to participate in the Playoff. It seems like the teams at the top are the ones who keep showing up year after year. Of course, each year brings hope of something new and different.

Let’s take a brief look at some of this year’s College Football Playoff contenders. This is who could possibly emerge form this year’s pool of teams around the country, and which ones are the most likely to get a chance to play for a national title.
