Based on the rankings of the players signed in each class, the Ohio State football team is in the midst of the greatest recruiting run in school history.

The Ohio State football team has done a really good job with recruiting the last three years. In fact, each of the last three recruiting classes have been in the top 15 nationally. Frankly, the only reason 2019 was 14th in the country is because that was Ryan Day’s first year as head coach.

2020 jumped all the way up to fifth nationally. 2021 is second in the country and is the best class in school history. The class of 2022 is the best in the country right now and would jump ahead of this year’s class as the best in school history. What Day has done is astounding.

The rankings of the players that they have signed recently have also been impressive. According to 247Sports, since Day has been head coach, they have signed three of the highest-ranked prospects in school history. If they sign J.T. Tuimoloau as well, they will have four of the top 6.

Julian Fleming was the sixth-best prospect ever and he came in the 2020 class. Jack Sawyer is a freshman this year and he would be the fifth-best prospect in school history. JTT would be the fourth-best. Quinn Ewers, who comes in next season, is the best prospect they’ve ever had committed.

Recruiting is such a large part of college football now that you have to have a coach who’s an elite recruiter if you want to compete for championships. Day has done that and is reaping the rewards. Last year they played for a national title. This year, they might win a national title.

We still don’t know when Tuimoloau will make his recruitment decision. But even if he spurns the Buckeyes, Day is still recruiting with the best of them.
