If number changes mean anything then the Ohio State football team may be landing J.T. Tuimolau after his much-ballyhooed visit this past weekend.

The Ohio State football program already has one of the best defensive ends from the class of 2021 on their roster in Jack Sawyer. Sawyer already showed how good he can be in the Spring Game. He might be making room for another freshman defensive end too.

Sawyer’s number was 33 in that Spring Game. Now, he has switched it to 40. Players change numbers all the time as new ones become available. So why does this matter you ask? Because J.T. Tuimoloau wore 33 in high school and he visited this past weekend.

Sawyer is also a freshman so him changing numbers randomly doesn’t make a whole lot of sense otherwise. He could change his number because Tuimoloau asked him to. That would mean that Tuimoloau is on his way to Columbus after he finishes his visit with Alabama.

Of course, this is all just speculation. No one knows anything for sure, nor will they until that visit is over. Ultimately, Nick Saban will have the last crack at him and knows what to say to land top recruits such as JTT. I would feel confident if I was an Ohio State coach, but it’s far from a done deal.

Next. Ohio State football is returning to normal. dark

Buckeye fans are hoping that they can get him. Tuimoloau will be a great player wherever he ends up going. Based on how he was received in Columbus, there’s a very good chance he ends up in an Ohio State uniform. Hopefully, this number change confirms that.
