The former Ohio State football player signed a contract extension this past weekend with the Dolphins. Miami shows a commitment to him and his great play.

There are a lot of Ohio State football players in the NFL right now. Most of them have been extremely successful at the next level. One of those players is Jerome Baker, who is a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins. Baker was a third-round pick back in 2018.

Since then, Baker has exceeded expectations. He has played at a very high level in his first few seasons in the NFL. He performed so well that the Dolphins decided to reward him with a sizable contract extension. Baker just signed a three-year extension worth $39 million.

Baker has shown himself to be perhaps the most reliable linebacker in Miami. He has played in every single game since he was drafted, starting 37 of a possible 48. He’s had over 100 tackles both of the last two seasons and has 11.5 sacks in his career.

This is another example of a former Ohio State football player succeeding in the NFL. Ryan Day can certainly use this as a recruiting tool for future linebackers and defenders that he tries to bring in. It shows that you don’t have to be a first-round guy to make money in the NFL.

Baker’s contract extension shows that the Buckeyes prepare all kinds of players for the next level, and they do it extremely well. This is only a good thing for both the Ohio State football program and Baker himself. I’m sure Day will use this in recruiting very soon.

Ohio State is in a big recruiting month. Baker’s extension should certainly help some recruiting efforts on the defensive side of the ball. I’m hopeful we’ll see some result of that as the month carries along.
