Former five-star Ohio State football prospect Tyreke Johnson has announced where he will be transferring to and it will be in the Big Ten Conference.

The Ohio State football team has a very deep roster at almost every position. You have to work hard every day to earn your time on the field. If you don’t practice well, you won’t play. That has been the case since when Urban Meyer was heading the program.

Tyreke Johnson learned that the last few years. He was a former five-star recruit at the cornerback position. You would have thought that the Buckeyes would need someone like him for how poorly the secondary played a year ago. But Johnson never saw the field.

Johnson couldn’t find a home in Columbus, so he announced that he was transferring just a few weeks ago. It wasn’t a big surprise. What is a slight surprise is where Johnson has now ended up. He will be staying in the Big Ten Conference and will play for Nebraska.

Scott Frost has had trouble finding some momentum as the head coach there. He’s hoping that he can tap into some of Johnson’s potential that made him a five-star recruit. If he can get Johnson to play to that potential, the secondary for Nebraska will be much better.

While he will still be in the Big Ten, he won’t hurt Ohio State. The Buckeyes have too good of an offense to be shut down by anyone in this conference. Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson will burn Johnson anytime that he tries to cover either of them.

There is also no guarantee that Johnson will earn a starting job. He has to practice well enough to earn that time, something he wasn’t able to do in Columbus.
