Ohio State basketball had no NCAA violations last season

The Ohio State basketball program didn’t have a single NCAA violation last season, including any that were self-reported.
NCAA violations are a part of college sports. Most programs self-report even small violations at some point in the year. This is especially true for college basketball, where the sport is rampant with violations. Some are large, but most are very small and minor.
According to the Columbus Dispatch’s Adam Jardy, the Ohio State basketball program did not have a single violation the entire season. That includes large or small. Most seasons, programs self-report even tiny violations so the NCAA doesn’t find them later and ends up punishing them more than they need to.
That is not the case for the Buckeyes. Chris Holtmann and his staff did a great job running a clean program this past season. It’s a credit to him and the compliance department as well. There are so many NCAA bylaws that it’s very hard for programs to keep them all straight.
It’s good that Holtmann has run a clean program. Now it’s time for him to focus on some success on the court in the postseason. That is the one thing that has alluded him so far in his tenure as the head coach of the Ohio State basketball program.
Holtmann is in the midst of a very busy recruiting period here in June. Hopefully, he doesn’t commit any minor violations during this very hectic time. He will be seeing a lot of prospects in a very short amount of time.
Of course, if he lands any commits, we will be all over it!
