Both former Ohio State football players were consensus All-Americans and were truly all-time Buckeye greats. Mike Doss and James Laurinaitis now get a chance to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Ohio State football program has had a lot of great players in its history. They have had some of the all-time greats, no one being greater than two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame, like several other Buckeyes.

Two more former Buckeyes now have a chance to enter the Hall of Fame as well. Mike Doss is the older of the two on the 2022 ballot, having last played in 2002. Doss was incredible in his time with the program and helped lead the Buckeyes to the 2003 BCS National Championship.

Beating that great Miami team was his greatest achievement. He had plenty of accolades during his time with the program too. He was a three-time First-Team All-Big Ten selection and was a three-time First-Time All-American, including a unanimous selection in 2002. Doss was also the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

Mike Doss isn’t the only Ohio State football player on the ballot.

James Laurinaitis is the second Buckeye who gets on the 2022 HOF ballot. Laurinaitis was a great linebacker for the Buckeyes in a long list of great ones. He was a three-time First-Team All-American, being a consensus choice in 2006 and 2008 while being a unanimous choice in 2007.

Laurinaitis was also the Buckeyes’ leading tackler for three straight years and won the Nagurski Award in 2006 and the Butkus Award in 2007. He also was a two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year winner and helped Ohio State play in two straight national titles.

Both of these guys are worthy candidates for the HOF. Both of these guys hold a special place in my heart, especially Doss. Doss came back his senior season to win a national championship and then he delivered that gift. He was a true competitor at the highest level.

Next. Is Ohio State getting a bunch of recruits in June?. dark

The HOF class of 2022 won’t be announced until early 2022. Hopefully, both of these guys make it.
