The Ohio State football program has a great track record of producing elite defensive linemen. They will be hosting one of the nation’s best for a visit in early June to try and keep that track record going.

We already have talked about the ambitious plan that the Ohio State football program is undergoing in the month of June in terms of recruiting. Of those 51 official visits, one of them will be from the second-best defensive lineman in the class of 2022.

Shemar Stewart, out of Opa Locka, Florida, is the second-best defensive lineman in the class of 2022. He is also the seventh-best player nationally and is a five-star recruit. He announced that he will be making a visit to Ohio State on June 9th. Ohio State will be third in his visit trips.

Stewart has some strong tape. He shows excellent burst through the line and can beat offensive linemen either inside or outside. He has a very quick first step that allows him to get to the quarterback quickly. Simply put, he’s an excellent prospect with a chance to be even better,

Right now, the experts predict that he will end up at LSU but not with a high level of confidence. The good thing for the Buckeyes is that his visit to Columbus will come directly after a visit with the Tigers. Ryan Day and his staff have a chance to give him a good lasting impression.

It’s still too early to determine where Stewart might end up going before he has taken any of his visits. If Ohio State is able to make a good impression, and I think we all know Larry Johnson can do just that, the Buckeyes have a chance to land yet another top prospect on the d-line.

Next. Why the RB room is in a good place. dark

All of the visits Stewart has scheduled right now are done on June 10th, so the Buckeyes should know where they stand relative to everyone else soon after he visits with them. We’ll keep you posted on how that visit goes.
