Ohio State football: Al Washington needs to do great coaching

With the entire linebacking corp gone from last season, the Ohio State football team needs to have some great coaching with the linebacker group. That’s where Al Washington comes in.

The Ohio State football team will have all new linebackers on the field this year. None of the linebackers have any real experience playing games. All of them will be new to the field. Because of that, Al Washington needs to be at his absolute best.

Washington will need to coach his group up well for the Buckeyes to get where they want to go. The linebackers are the least experienced group on the entire team, besides maybe quarterback. All three players will be new to starting roles this season.

Washington should get some help from Kerry Coombs as Defensive Coordinator. Because of that, Washington should do just fine. He is the coach that has the best chance to get a promotion, so I would assume he is up to the task. It’s not like he hasn’t coached these guys at all.

As long as Washington does his job, the defense should be much improved from last year. The secondary will be a little bit better just based off having a full offseason. The linebackers are the clear question mark on the defensive side of the ball.

Ohio State’s offense is going to be great once again. It will be up to the defense to hold up their end of the bargain. They don’t even need to be great this season. They just have to be above average. The offense is going to be good enough to carry this football team all season.

Washington should be able to get the most out of this group that is possible. I would expect the linebackers to be good enough, even though they may be the weak point of the defense.
