The Ohio State football team will try to do something it’s never done before; host as many recruits in one month as they typically do in an entire year.

One of the many things the pandemic stole from the Ohio State football program was their ability to host recruits for on-campus visits. They weren’t the only program that had to deal with this of course, but it was still a significant hurdle that they had to face.

Now that the NCAA has lifted the recruiting dead period, they can finally bring some prospects to Columbus for official visits. They are going to be hosting a lot of them. In fact, they are going to try and host as many recruits in the month of June as they typically do during an entire year.

Ohio State will try to host 51 official visits in June. They will also try to host somewhere between 150-200 unofficial visits as well. That’s a lot of high school kids on campus in one calendar month. It’s a very ambitious plan that Ryan Day and his staff have to tackle.

They are doing this to try and make up lost ground from 2020. They are still trying to land some 2021 prospects for this upcoming season, most notably J.T. Tuimoloau. Tuimolau will be visiting towards the end of the month. Most of the other visitors are from the 2022 and 2023 classes.

This is going to be a very important month for the Buckeyes. If they are able to have a successful month, this could be the best recruiting job in the history of the program. Never has anyone tried to host this many prospects in one month in Ohio State history.

We can only hope that Day and his staff are up to the challenge. I would be surprised if they weren’t.
