Ohio State football: Five-star tackle to visit next weekend
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program will be hosting a five-star tackle on campus next month for one of the first on-campus visits the Buckeyes have had in over a year.
It’s about time. The Ohio State football program will finally be able to host a prospect for an on-campus visit starting June 1. This is the case after visits were not allowed across the country because of the pandemic. Now, they will be hosting a five-star recruit.
The Buckeyes will be hosting five-star tackle Zach Rice for a visit next weekend on June 4th. Rice is the fifth-best player in the country out of Lynchburg, Virginia, and is the number one tackle in the class of 2022. He is very highly sought after as a recruit.
Rice is 6’6 and 282 pounds and moves extremely well on the outside. He is a multi-sport athlete that is clearly one of the best athletes from this class in general. Rice projects to be a big-time offensive line prospect for whatever program is able to land him.
As far as the programs that are trying to grab him, Ohio State has stiff competition. He is also considering Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama, and Notre Dame. He is scheduled to visit all of those schools in the month of June, starting with UNC on June 1. Ohio State is second.
It may be better for the Buckeyes if they had been able to be the last school for him to visit. That way, they can make the last impression on him. That doesn’t mean that they still can’t land him being the second visit on his list. The Buckeyes are still really good.
We will be all over this visit and let you know how it ends up going. I doubt that Rice would commit anywhere before taking all of his visits. Ohio State will certainly have to make a strong impression. They have landed top tackle prospects before, most recently getting Nicholas Petit-Frere as the top guy in his class.
