It turns out that there really wasn’t a scandal around the Ohio State football program. A massage therapist was targeting players for her own personal gain.

A massage therapist targeted Ohio State football players in a sexually exploitative way. A detailed report was released by the university about a 41-year old massage therapist who was actively seeking to do massages in a sexual manner on players.

Apparently, the woman lived over two hours away from campus. She and five other players had some sort of sexual encounters. Based on interviews with players, Ohio State has barred her from campus and she has now lost her massage therapist license.

There is also a chance that criminal charges can still be coming. That is up to the prosecutor though. The good news is that no players did anything wrong in terms of athletic or NCAA rules. As far as that is concerned, this case is closed and the players can put it behind them.

This is the best possible news after people were fearing the worst. Rumors surfaced yesterday about there possibly being a scandal around the football program. This is not a scandal. This is a predatory woman trying to take advantage of college kids.

I had heard rumors of this possibly being involved with Richard Strauss or Gene Smith possibly taking the Pac-12 commissioner job, but that was false. Personally, I didn’t know what to believe. I thought the Strauss talk seemed the most plausible, but I was wrong.

I’m very glad that this turned out to be a whole lot of nothing and that the entire program can move on and forget about this. Players can just focus on the upcoming Fall camp and the football season that lies ahead.
