Ohio State basketball: Carmen’s Crew announces TBT roster
By Ryan Stano
A roster full of former Ohio State basketball players has been announced to play in The Basketball Tournament for Carmen’s Crew. Who is on this year’s roster?
Former Ohio State basketball players have been playing on Carmen’s Crew since the inception of The Basketball Tournament. In fact, Carmen’s Crew won TBT back in 2019 and won the $2 million prize as the champion. It was great to watch the former Buckeyes win it all.
After an embarrassing upset last year in their bid to defend their title, they will be back at it in 2021. They just announced their roster on Twitter yesterday and will be adding some new faces after losing some valuable players from past seasons.
As of right now, Carmen’s Crew will be adding Shannon Scott to the roster. The former point guard will be a new addition to the team. Keyshawn Woods is also joining the roster as a guard. The best addition to the roster is Kaleb Wesson. All will be key members of the team this summer.
Woods only played for the Buckeyes a single season after being a grad transfer from Wake Forest. Woods averaged 8.1 points a game in the 2018-19 season and was a key leader on an extremely young Buckeye team. He looks to contribute in a different way this summer.
Scott played for the Buckeyes from 2011-2014. He was actually the best playmaker on Thad Matta’s squad his senior year. He led the team with 5.9 assists. that year. Expect him to do more of the same for Carmen’s Crew. He is the best passer on the roster.
Kaleb Wesson is also joining Carmen’s Crew. Wesson was Ohio State’s best player every year that he was with the Buckeyes. Under Chris Holtmann, Wesson had his best season in 2020 when he averaged 14 points per game and shot 43% from the three-point line.
Speaking of the rest of the roster, Wesson, Woods, and Scott will be joining former Buckeyes who have already played in TBT. William Buford, David Lighty, Jon Diebler, and Evan Ravenel. This squad should be seriously hard to beat this Summer.
It’s always fun to watch Carmen’s Crew in the TBT. I hope everyone gives them a watch this Summer.
