The best corner the Ohio State football team had in 2020 finally goes off the board in the fifth round to the Baltimore Ravens.

It may have ended up being a costly decision for Shaun Wade. The former Ohio State football player was expected to have been a late first-round pick or early second-round pick had he come out in 2020. Instead, he came back and his draft stock slid.

In his case, it slid all the way to the fifth round. After having a subpar year after moving to the outside, he ends up heading to Baltimore. Don’t get me wrong, his subpar year is still better than a lot of other players’ good year. He was a consensus All-American and won the Tatum-Woodson Award as the best defensive back in the Big Ten.

Wade is very physical on the inside and is probably best utilized in the slot in the NFL. He did play most of 2020 injured as he had a turf toe injury that was hurting him. He ended up having surgery on that toe and missed Ohio State’s first Pro Day because of it.

While Wade may have been able to improve his draft stock if he had stayed one more year, he ends up in Baltimore. If Wade can get fully healthy and improve his skills on the outside, the Ravens might end up getting the steal of the draft this late.

Wade still has excellent ball skills and can do something with the ball once he intercepts it. He isn’t going to need to play right away and can use a couple of years to be in a rotation and not have the full burden of starting weighing on him.

I have a feeling a lot of teams are going to regret passing on Shaun Wade in a couple of years. This guy has all of the tools to be a stud as he grows at the NFL level.
