The Ohio State football team lost a four-star recruit to a fellow Big Ten school who decided to hire family members to grab him.

The Ohio State football team lost a four-star athlete today when Dasan McCullogh de-committed and flipped to Indiana. McCullogh was expected to possibly play linebacker or safety at Ohio State but now will do so for IU after a Tom Allen played some family tricks.

Allen hired McCullogh’s dad onto his staff a few months ago. He was the running backs coach in Kansas City and is now on Allen’s staff. Still, that wasn’t enough to pull McCullogh out of his commitment to Ryan Day just yet. He still wanted to be in Columbus.

That changed when Allen offered his younger brother and got him to commit to him. Then his other brother decided to transfer to IU from Miami of Ohio. All of that led Dasan to de-commit from the Buckeyes and head to Bloomington in 2022.

These types of family things are fairly commonplace in college football. A lot of head coaches offer siblings of recruits who aren’t very good or hire family members to their staff to try and get top recruits. That’s what Allen did here in order to secure McCullogh.

This isn’t necessarily a dirty trick or anything, but it is super annoying for the Buckeyes for sure. The Ohio State football team was on track to have a ridiculous recruiting class in 2022, and that was supposed to include McCullogh. Now, he’s a rival and will be playing against Ohio State.

dark. Next. Revamping the CFP

It will be interesting to see how the Buckeyes treat McCullogh when they face off against him for the first time. I’m sure they will make it a point to go after him and show him what he’s missing out on.
