The Ohio State football freshman showed during the Spring Game why he is going to be a stud for the Buckeyes and why he will get playing time this Fall.

Ohio State football is famous for defensive ends. You all know the names. Joey and Nick Bosa, Chase Young, and Zach Harrison are just some of the few studs to play in Columbus. Harrison might have found a running mate who is even better than him.

That running mate is true freshman Jack Sawyer. Sawyer is a freshman out of Pickerington North High School who is the number one recruit in the state of Ohio in the class of 2021. The five-star recruit made quite an impression in the Spring Game in his first action as a Buckeye.

In that game, he was credited with four sacks. Now, these weren’t real sacks because there was no tackling allowed in the game to keep everyone healthy. Even so, his explosion was evident and he easily handled the tackles that were trying to block him throughout the contest.

Sawyer wasn’t going against Thayer Munford or Nicholas Petit-Frere. He was going against backups that should never see the field this season as long as Ohio State stays healthy up front. But Sawyer still showed why he is a five-star kid and why he deserves playing time right away.

Even though the defensive line is made up of great players, Sawyer will get plenty of snaps this season as a freshman. He is strong, fast, and he is able to get leverage very easily on tackles. Quite simply put, he is one of the best players Ohio State has regardless of position.

I truly can’t wait to see what Sawyer can do when real football is played. The Fall is going to be full of him wrecking opposing offensive lines. Buckeyes fans are going to love him.
