The Ohio State football team is looking for a new quarterback this Fall. Based on the Spring Game performance, one of them is severely behind the other two.

The biggest thing we wanted to see from the Ohio State football Spring Game was the performance of the quarterbacks. All three quarterbacks were getting significant reps for the first time in their careers. It was very interesting to see all of their performances.

C.J. Stroud clearly looked the best. The first half is the only time where they kept score during the game and kept stats. In that first half, C.J. Stroud was extremely impressive. He was 11/15 for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. He looked crisp and sharp the entire time he was out there.

Kyle McCord also looked really good. The true freshman had some really good deep balls, including one to Garrett Wilson on his first deep throw. He finished 9/13 for 130 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He too looked extremely comfortable within the offense.

Jack Miller, however, did not. He not only looked bad in the first half but the whole game in general. In his first half, he was 12/23 for 100 yards and one bad interception on the first drive of the game. He never looked comfortable, which is concerning considering he’s been in the system for a year.

Based on this Spring Game, Miller seems to be the distant third in this competition. With how bad he looked, he might be looking to transfer before the Fall. He won’t be winning the starting job, so there’s no reason he needs to stay in the program.

This looks like a two-horse race early on for the starting quarterback job. Whichever between Stroud and McCord ends up playing better in Fall practice will get the job. That will be interesting to follow as well.
