Ohio State basketball: Efton Reid postpones commitment
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team was hoping to get big man Efton Reid to commit to their program. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen because he decided to postpone his decision.
Efton Reid is a five-star center for the class of 2021 and is from Florida. He had announced that he was going to make his college decision on April 15th. He has the Ohio State basketball program as one of his finalists. We waited and waited, but no announcement was made.
Reid decided to postpone his commitment. Now there is no telling when he may ultimately make his decision. For whatever reason, he seems to have chosen to hold off on making a final choice. It’s very odd that he decided to wait until the evening for his mother to announce this.
Chris Holtmann was hoping to be able to have the center commit to the Buckeyes today. Having a true big man in the middle is something he has never had in his career coaching Ohio State. He’s never had a skilled big man who is taller than 6’8.
Reid is 6’11 and has long arms. Just his presence would help Ohio State’s poor defense. They allowed players to score at the rim at an alarming rate late in the season. Big men don’t solve everything, but they certainly are fun to have.
Other schools Reid has on his list are Florida State, Virginia, and NC State. Noise really hasn’t gone out as to where he might go. His inner circle has done a really good job of not letting any information leak out. I really have no idea where he might end up.
