Ohio State football: How the Spring Game will be played
By Ryan Stano
We have some details on how the Ohio State football team will play their Spring Game this Saturday.
The Ohio State football team plays their Spring Game on Saturday. This will be the first time that there are fans in the Shoe since 2019. While it may be at a limited capacity, anything is better than nothing. We now know what kind of game these fans will be seeing.
Ryan Day has stated that the first half will be a typical Scarlet vs. Gray game. What is unclear is whether or not there will be tackling yet. Day has said that is yet to be determined. I hope there is tackling because you do need to get some physicality in Spring.
You also don’t want to get anyone hurt too. It would very much surprise me if they allowed the quarterbacks to be touched at all. That is one position group that you don’t want to get hurt. That is still true even though they have much more depth there this year.
The second half of the game is still being determined. They might keep playing like they will in the first half. Day also mentioned that they might make it more of a controlled scrimmage instead. Day might just see how the first half goes before making a decision on it.
We still don’t know who will start the Spring Game at quarterback. We won’t find that out until Saturday afternoon. That is perhaps the biggest question mark regarding the personnel for this game, not that it really matters. This won’t have much bearing on who actually starts in the Fall.
