The Ohio State football program will only allow a certain amount of fans into the Shoe for the Spring Game, and it’s not even close to half capacity.

The Ohio State football team will partake in the annual Spring Game next Saturday on April 17th. This game will take place at noon. There was a lot of speculation as to how many fans, if any, will be allowed into the Shoe for the game. We now know that answer.

According to the university, the capacity for the game will be just under 20,000 spectators; 19,180 to be exact. 10,000 of those seats will be reserved for front-line workers. That means just under 10,000 seats will be available for the students and general public.

Ohio State says that they expect about 4,500 seats to be available for the general public, with the rest going to faculty, staff, and students. About 2,500 will go towards students. Tickets will be sold at $5 a piece and will go on sale this Monday at 11 am. So if you want a ticket, be prepared to be online at that time.

This decision was made in regards to the current health orders in the state of Ohio. Like we mentioned before, it’s hard to see the Shoe not being full in the Fall. But right now, the cases just haven’t fallen enough to warrant more seating for this game.

This will be the first time since late 2019 that Ohio Stadium will have fans in the stands that aren’t parents. Even though the Shoe won’t be full, it doesn’t need to be. It’s just the Spring Game. There is no other opponent on the other side of the field.

At this point, I’ll take what I can get. Any progress towards having more fans in the stands is something to celebrate. If you can’t get a ticket to the game, it will be broadcast on BTN.
