The Ohio State football team has sent out a new offer to a four-star defensive back from the state of Virginia.

The weakest part of the Ohio State football team right now is the secondary. They have been trying desperately to strengthen that part of their team. Recruiting is the best way to do that, and the Buckeyes have offered yet another defensive back from the 2022 class.

Their newest offer is to Sherrod Covil, a safety out of Chesapeake, Virginia. He is a four-star safety that is considered the 16th-best safety in the country right now. He now holds offers from a lot of big-time programs, including, Notre Dame, TTUN, Penn State, Alabama, and Virginia Tech.

Covil stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. He is someone that can run downhill and make tackles in the box on run plays. He is definitely a run-stop first safety. That doesn’t mean he can’t cover though. He has decent ball skills but is definitely better used as someone who can roam the middle of the field.

Covil still has time to improve his game before he comes to a college program. He also has time to go to some camps that can improve his rating as well. Ryan Day clearly likes what he sees enough right now to offer him a scholarship. They like what he can become.

Part of the problem with the secondary is that they were not physical enough. That was an issue with the whole team honestly. Covil would certainly help in that regard. I think the Buckeyes like the potential from this kid. He is someone who they can teach to cover a bit better.

Next. Ohio State Spring Game attendance has been announced. dark

The Buckeyes will continue to offer kids at a pretty rapid pace once Spring practice ends.
