The former Ohio State football coach is in Jacksonville now as the coach for the Jaguars. He said in an interview recently that he won’t ever return to college football.

Urban Meyer was a great coach for the Ohio State football team. He retired after health issues forced him to leave the game. At the time, he said that he didn’t think he’d ever coach again. That clearly has proven to be false, as he now coaches the Jaguars.

He is going to try to coach in the NFL for the first time in his illustrious career. Whether he succeeds or not is another story. In a recent interview with Peter King, he stated that he would never return to college football to coach ever again. He said there is zero chance.

Meyer making a declaration like this is extremely strong. He has already gone back on his promises once before by deciding to coach in Jacksonville. What would keep him from changing his mind again if he fails in the NFL? What would keep him from going back to college where he knows he can succeed.

Even though Meyer made such a strong declaration, I can’t take him at his word. He is someone who is hyper-competitive. If he can’t win at the NFL level, he’ll have to head back to college. Even if the Ohio State job isn’t open, you don’t think Notre Dame or someone would try to pick him up?

Meyer can’t sit around and do nothing in retirement. He has to be coaching. He’s risking his health as it is heading to Jacksonville. I don’t think he’s going to succeed in the NFL, so I’d be shocked if this was the last place he ever coached. He has to go back to college.

Next. Who fills the void at tight end?. dark

I’d be very surprised if Jacksonville is the last organization that hired Urban Meyer as their head coach.
