After the Ohio State basketball team lost to Oral Roberts, E.J. Liddell posted messages that some people had sent him during and after the game. The messages are truly disgraceful.

The Ohio State basketball team suffered one of the worst losses in recent memory yesterday when they lost to 15-seed Oral Roberts in overtime. It was a terrible loss and no one is immune from criticism. There is a line between criticism and outright hate though.

Clearly, some “fans” took it too far yesterday and got incredibly personal. E.J. Liddell went to Twitter to call out these people and posted what they said to him, username and all. Warning: these words are extremely hateful and are NSFW.

Anyone that says things like this to a kid, a college kid playing a game, is a terrible person. They should be shamed forever. The Buckeyes just lost a game, and that was it. It’s not the end of the world. Liddell mentioned he has gotten comments before and he knows this isn’t the majority of the Ohio State fanbase that feels this way.

Athletic Director Gene Smith came out in support of his player, posting a message of support on Twitter.

Smith knows that these types of comments towards any student-athlete are uncalled for and out of line. The rest of the Ohio State basketball team will certainly rally around Liddell and support him any way that he needs to be supported.

The Ohio State University police are now getting involved to possibly pursue criminal charges for those responsible for this type of reprehensible behavior. Those who threaten others and say terrible things like this deserve to be put in jail and pay a high price.
