Another former Ohio State football player has signed a big deal in free agency, and he gets to play with a former Buckeye teammate too.

The Ohio State football team is getting some great recruiting press out of NFL free agency. They’ve had some guys sign for a lot of money. Recently, Corey Linsley got paid more than any other center ever. Now, a former RB/WR gets some money too.

Curtis Samuel, who mostly played running back at Ohio State, signed a three-year $34.5 million deal with the Washington Football team. Samuel played the hybrid H-back position in his final year at Ohio State, which helped his draft stock as a receiver.

Samuel has played strictly receiver in the NFL. He played the first four years of his career in Carolina. Last season, he ran the ball more than he had at any point in his NFL career. He ran it 41 times for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns in addition to catching 77 passes for 851 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Samuel has shown himself to be exactly what he was for the Ohio State football program; an extremely versatile player. Samuel will now take those talents to Washington where he will join his former Buckeye teammate Terry McLaurin.

These two Buckeyes should form quite a receiving tandem for the Football Team. McLaurin has already established himself as one of the best young receivers in the game. Samuel is one of the most versatile players in the league. Washington has to be pleased.

As far as the Ohio football program is concerned, this is great publicity for them. They can show recruits that if you want to get seriously paid once you turn pro, Ohio State is the right program for you. It makes a lot of sense to use that pitch.

More Buckeyes are going to get signed and they are going to keep making serious money. It’s great for Ryan Day to see.
