Ohio State Women’s Hockey team makes Frozen Four
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State women’s hockey team continues its strong season and has now advanced to the Frozen Four and has a real shot at a national title.
It’s March Madness time and Spring football is right around the corner. Even with that being the case, other sports are still in full swing. The Ohio State women’s hockey team has been killing it all season and is now just one game away from playing for a national championship.
The team has a 13-6 record and advanced to the Frozen Four after beating Boston College 3-1. They were able to develop a 43-8 shot advantage through two periods and went on to finish the job. Now they are close to winning it all.
The Buckeyes will take on number 2 Wisconsin in the Frozen Four on Thursday night. This will be the sixth time these teams have faced each other this season. Wisconsin has a 3-2 lead in those five games, so they have the upper hand on the Buckeyes so far.
That lead will give the Badgers some confidence heading into Thursday night’s game. It will be broadcast on ESPNU Thursday night. If the Buckeyes play like they did against Boston College though, they should have a great chance to advance.
The Buckeyes peppered BC with 48 total shots and scored on a power-play goal. Anytime you’re able to get that many shots on net you put immense pressure on the opposing goaltender. That many shots are just too hard to stop. You’re going to let some in.
This is the second time in the last four years that the women’s hockey team has advanced to the Frozen Four. Hopefully, they can finish the deal this year.
