The former Ohio State football player signed a free-agent deal with the Carolina Panthers after a lot of changes in 2020.

The Ohio State football program has a lot of great players in the NFL at a lot of different positions. Pat Elflein is one player who had some adversity to face in 2020 but has no come out of it in a better place. The guard now has a new contract and a new home.

After spending last season getting waived by the Vikings, where he spent the first three years of his career, and then starting the final six games with the Jets, Elflein is moving on. Elflein is now a guard for the Carolina Panthers after signing a new three-year deal.

The deal is worth $13.5 million, including $6 million of it guaranteed. Elflein has had a little bit of an up-and-down career so far in the NFL after being a third-round pick by the Vikings back in 2017. He has also started at two different positions in the league.

Elflein was drafted to be a center by the Vikings and then was moved to guard in 2019. He will play guard in Carolina too. But he has that versatility where he could slide to center if there is an injury or something. He has a chance to be a Jack of all trades type of player.

Other former Ohio State football players will certainly be signing free-agent deals soon too. Safety Malik Hooker is one player I’m very interested to learn where he ends up. If he can just avoid injuries, he can really help a team out there that needs a ball-hawking free safety.
