Ohio State basketball looking to improve vs. Purdue
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team will look to improve on their play today as they take on Purdue in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
The Ohio State basketball team was able to end their losing streak of four games yesterday after they were able to beat Minnesota. They almost let that game slip away after having a 13 point lead with less than two minutes left in the contest. They are looking to play better than that today.
Purdue is a much tougher team than the Golden Gophers though. The Boilermakers have already beaten Ohio State twice this season, granted one of those games was without E.J. Liddell. Even so, Purdue is going to be an extremely tough test for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State did do a good job of distributing shots yesterday. It was very even scoring. The same is going to have to take place today. They will also have to play the same stellar defense they played for most of the game, especially in the low post.
Kyle Young is going to be the key to today’s game. His defense of Zach Edey and Trevion Williams will be the deciding factor on who wins this game. If Young can slow them down, specifically Williams, then Ohio State has an excellent chance to win. If he doesn’t, they won’t. It’s as simple as that.
Game Prediction: Ohio State 75 Purdue 73
I think Ohio State digs deep and pulls out the win today, although I don’t feel super confident about it. They are going to have to close the game much better than what they have in the last five or six games. The Buckeyes are going to have to get better offense at the end of games.
This is probably going to be the last game that Ohio State has a chance to win in the Big Ten Tournament. That is of course unless they are able to win by at least double-digits.
