Ohio State basketball: What seed the Buckeyes are now
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team lost again on Sunday for their third straight loss. What does their seed look like now for the NCAA Tournament?
Ohio State has now lost three straight games for the first time all season long after losing to Iowa on Sunday. This game was the least competitive of the three games that they have lost, as they lost 73-57 and never looked close to truly competing.
Now that the Buckeyes have lost these games at the worst possible time of year, their seed for the NCAA Tournament has definitely taken a hit. They were projected to be a one seed even after they lost the games to Michigan and Michigan State. That is not the case now.
Ohio State has one game left. They would more than likely be a two seed if the season were to end today. Honestly, a two seed seems to be the most likely seed at this point. The only way they could still swing a one seed is if they win against Illinois and run the table in the Big Ten Tournament.
A two seed seems to be the most likely scenario. Really as long as they don’t lose to Illinois and then get bounced in the first game of the Big Ten Tourney, they should get a two seed. If that worst-case scenario did happen, they would be a three seed.
The Buckeyes are in a bad way right now. Chris Holtmann has to do some of his best coaching now that his team has been a complete mess. If he doesn’t turn this ship around, this will be one of the most disappointing seasons of Ohio State basketball in recent memory.
Ohio State’s final game is against Illinois next Sunday. They need to show some signs of life in that game.
