Ohio State football: Toughest game on their schedule
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team doesn’t have a terribly hard schedule in 2021, but it’s harder than the one the played in 2020. There is one game that is the toughest of them all though.
The Ohio State football team played a relatively easy schedule in 2020. Part of that was due to the fact that they didn’t play any non-conference games. That meant that they didn’t have to play at Oregon. This year though, they will be playing those non-conference contests.
Their conference schedule isn’t too tough. They don’t play the best team in the West, which is Wisconsin. They do have tough back-to-back games against IU and Penn State. But the conference is still not super strong this season either.
Based on their schedule, the toughest game on their schedule is the game against Oregon in the Shoe. It’s unclear whether or not that game will be in the Shoe or not though. Both schools may agree to play the game in a nuetral location instead because of the game being canceled last season.
If that happens, this definitely becomes the toughest game Ohio State will have to play. They won’t have their home fans to help them win, assuming that fans are allowed in for games of course. It’s unclear where the game would be played in relation to Columbus.
Oregon is the reigning Pac-12 champions. They are a good team with a strong foundation of players back from last season. The Ducks are one of the only teams in the Pac-12 that have a chance to make the College Football Playoff.
Ohio State will need to come ready to play against the Ducks no matter where the game is played. It will be early in the season too, so whoever the new quarterback will be won’t have had a lot of experience before this big showdown.
We will see if any announcement is made that the game is changing venues.
