The Ohio State football team starts their march towards a national championship today with their first Spring practice.

The Ohio State football team made it to the final game in 2020. They had a chance to win a national championship. In the end though, they lost to a better team and ultimately weren’t able to finish the deal. Their road to redemption starts today.

Today is the first day they can get back on the field for Spring practice. They can start on the field workouts and work towards finishing next season on a better note. A lot needs to be figured out this Spring, as some key positions will have new players starting there.

Quarterback is obviously the most important of those positions. There will be a new starter there for the first time since 2019. All three candidates are there for the Spring, including true freshman Kyle McCord. They will start their battle today for that starting job.

That position won’t be decided until Fall camp for sure as all three players are high-quality guys. Ryan Day is going to want as much time as possible to evaluate his quarterbacks. But Spring practice is a good head start for someone to take the early lead in that race.

The same goes for all of the position battles that the Buckeyes have to decide. They need a new guard and a new center on the offensive line, a new defensive tackle, a new corner, and an entirely new slate of linebackers. All of them get a chance to make a good first impression today.

No matter what, it’s just good to see Ohio State football back in some capacity. We won’t get to see anything more than the occasional video until the Spring Game, which will happen this year. No position battle will get decided in the Spring either. But it’s a good way to get a head start on winning that battle if you have a good Spring.
