Ohio State: Docuseries being made about Dr. Richard Strauss
By Ryan Stano
The former Ohio State doctor has been accused of abuse by almost 1,500 people. A docuseries is in the works about the scandal.
Anyone who lives in Columbus has heard the story about Dr. Richard Strauss’s abuse while he was a medical doctor for the Ohio State University, specifically with the wrestling team. He had multiple victims and was horribly abusing his power.
Ohio State reached an almost $41 million dollar settlement with some of the victims. Unfortunately, there are still many more who didn’t get that compensation. Now the story is getting a docuseries about it to tell the story to more people.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, George Clooney and SI are teaming up to do a docuseries about the scandal. It will detail how Strauss was able to use his position of power for his own nefarious dealings. It will allow the nation to catch up to this story.
To be honest, I’m shocked more people haven’t talked about this. Besides the SI article, no one has written about it on a national stage. I only knew about it because I live in Columbus and it was on the news daily. It seemed every other day a new victim came forward.
It will be interesting to see how they portray the events and what happened. I’m also interested to see what outlet releases the series as well. I’m sure many people in Columbus and with Ohio State ties will be watching whenever it does get released.
This is a sad story, but it’s important that it is told.
