Ohio State football should be Big Ten favorites in 2021

The Ohio State football team is coming off a national championship appearance in 2020. In 2021, they should be the favorites to once again win the Big Ten.

The Ohio State football program has dominated the Big Ten ever since 2012 when Urban Meyer took over as head coach. Meyer started a culture of winning in Columbus and the Buckeyes have been the ones to beat in the conference ever since.

Ohio State has won five of the last seven Big Ten Championships. In fact, they have won the last four straight. The Buckeyes have built a powerhouse in the Midwest and no one seems to be able to stop them. Ryan Day’s squad should show more of the same in 2021.

The Buckeyes won’t only be one of the best teams in the conference, but they will be one of the best teams in the country next season. Ohio State should be a preseason top-five team. There might not be another Big Ten team in the top 10 to start the year.

The only other team that could be in the top 10 and might challenge Ohio State for the conference crown is Wisconsin. They don’t lose a lot of guys from 2020 and showed some promise on offense after being an extremely young team on that side of the ball.

Of course, Ohio State has the most talent of anyone in the conference. With Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jeremy Ruckert coming back on offense, they will be very hard to stop no matter who the new quarterback is. The defense only has to replace its linebackers too.

It would be truly shocking if Ohio State isn’t the overwhelming favorite to win the conference next season. Not only that, but it would take a monumental effort from the Badgers to keep Ohio State from winning their fifth straight conference title.
