Today the Big Ten Conference announced revisions to the 2021 football schedule. After a crazy 2020 season with countless cancelations, the Big Ten decided to change some games around in 2021, including changing some things for the Ohio State football team.

The biggest changes for some B1G teams were switching the home and away teams to make up for cancelations last season. That was not the case for OSU, as the home and away games remain the same, just with different dates. Here’s how the Buckeyes’ new schedule looks:

  • Thur. Sep. 2 @ Minnesota
  • Sat. Sep. 11 vs. Oregon
  • Sat. Sep 18 vs. Tulsa
  • Sat. Sep 25 vs. Akron
  • Sat. Oct. 2 @ Rutgers
  • Sat. Oct. 9 vs. Maryland
  • BYE
  • Sat. Oct. 23 @ Indiana
  • Sat. Oct. 30 vs. Penn State
  • Sat. Nov. 6 @ Nebraska
  • Sat. Nov. 13 vs. Purdue
  • Sat. Nov. 20 vs. Michigan State
  • Sat. Nov. 27 @ TTUN

In total, seven games were moved around. The opponents remain the same, just different dates.

The Buckeyes will get a taste of conference play right-off-the-bat when they open the season in the Twin Cities against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota, before jumping into non-conference competition.

Ohio State’s non-conference schedule of course remains unchanged. The Buckeyes were originally scheduled to travel to Oregon to take on the Ducks in 2020, but both the Big Ten and PAC 12 decided to delay the season and to only play conference games due to COVID-19 concerns.

Oregon is the defending PAC 12 Champion and will come to Columbus for a re-match of the 2014 National Championship Game. The Bucks will also play host to Tulsa and Akron out-of-conference.

2021 will offer no shortage of excitement for the Ohio State football program. There will be plenty of position battles heading into the 2021 season as there is some great returning talent as well as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. September cannot come soon enough.
