Ohio State basketball gets signature win at Iowa

The Ohio State basketball team got a signature win on Thursday night when they won at Iowa in a wildly entertaining game.
The Ohio State basketball team had a chance to make a statement against Iowa. They were the second-highest ranked Big Ten team in the country coming into this game. They were 7th overall and Iowa was 8th. The Buckeyes should jump into the top 5, probably top 3.
Ohio State was able to win the game 89-85 in a game that was the best game I’ve seen all year in college basketball. It was a three-point bonanza in this game from both teams. Both teams made 14 threes. The Buckeyes shot 44% from deep while Iowa shot 45%.
Duane Washington got hot at the right time in this game. He had 16 points to lead the team on 6-15 shooting. He hit three three-point shots in the second half to help pull Ohio State back after Iowa had taken a bit of a lead. Justin Ahrens did the same thing.
Ahrens had missed threes the entire game until late in the second half. He ended up hitting three three-point shots late in the game to give Ohio State the lead for good. He played clutch when it mattered. Justice Sueing did as well, scoring 12 points.
Kyle Young played the best of anyone on the team, scoring 16 points and playing excellent defense on Luka Garza. Young also hit two three-pointers and was 5-6 from the field. This was the best game he has played this year, and perhaps in his career.
This win propels Ohio State into the upper-echelon of contenders for the Final Four. They have shown the capacity to keep up with higher-scoring teams and play good enough defense to win lower-scoring fights too. They are one of the most versatile teams in the country.
It will be interesting to see how they finish out the rest of their schedule, as they play 3 ranked teams in their final 7 games.
