The Ohio State football program has done a really good job of grabbing the best players in the state of Ohio.

The goal of every elite program is to keep the best players in their state and attending their school.  No program has done that better than the Ohio State football program. Heading back to the days of Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel, the Buckeyes have kept the best players in the state.

It is no different in the class of 2021. In the state of Ohio, five of the six top prospects are headed to Columbus to play for the Buckeyes. DE Jack Sawyer, DT Mike Hall, LB Reid Carrico, WR Jaylen Ballard, and G Ben Christman are all headed to Ohio State.

The only top-ranked prospect from the state to not head to Ohio State is the fifth-best prospect. That player is WR Lorenzo Styles Jr. He is a four-star prospect who is headed to Notre Dame instead. Besides him, everyone else wants to stay home.

Ryan Day building a fence around the state of Ohio was one of his goals when he took the job. He has been able to do that extremely effectively. Ohio is one of the top five states in terms of high school talent. To keep that talent in-state and in Columbus is a testament to him and his staff.

The class of 2022 is no different. Four of the top six prospects in the state are committed to the Buckeyes. One who isn’t is headed to Penn State, while the other has not decided where they are headed yet. All of the prospects head to Ohio State are four-star kids as well.

Next. J.T. Tuimoloau delaying decision is worrisome. dark

As long as Day can keep recruiting the state like this, the Buckeyes are going to be really good for years to come.
