Ohio State basketball faces a sneaky Penn State team
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team takes on Penn State today in a make-up game. The Nittany Lions aren’t pushovers though.
The Ohio State basketball team will face Penn State today at 7 pm on Big Ten Network. This was a game that was originally scheduled for the beginning of the month. Ohio State was originally supposed to have a week between games. Now they have to face a Nittany Lion team that can be tricky.
Penn State doesn’t have an impressive record at only 5-6. They have had five games either canceled or postponed so far this season. While they only have two wins in the Big Ten so far, they do have a 20-point road win over 20th ranked Virginia Tech.
The Buckeyes no longer have to deal with Tony Carr (thank God), but they do have to worry about Myreon Jones. Jones is Penn State’s leading scorer at 15.9 points per game and shoots 41% from three. He is the player the Buckeyes need to focus the most on.
Prediction: Ohio State 76 Penn State 62
As long as E.J. Liddell is the best player on the court, and he will be tonight, the Buckeyes shouldn’t have too much trouble with the Nittany Lions. They just have to focus. Virginia Tech didn’t focus and they got run out of the gym. As long as Ohio State can focus, they should be fine.
C.J. Walker‘s return gives the Buckeyes a steady veteran presence at the point guard position. That is the most important position on the floor. He probably won’t start again tonight, but he would play in crunch time if the game is close. He will make sure this team stays focused.
The fans chose the throwback scarlet uniforms for the Buckeyes to wear tonight. Not only should Ohio State play sharp, but they will look sharp too.
