Ohio State basketball set to get key player back
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team is set to get back a key player for today’s game against Wisconsin.
C.J. Walker has been out for the last few games with torn ligaments in his non-shooting hand. He is the team’s starting point guard and the most experienced guy on the team. Not having him has been tough for the Buckeyes even though they have played well in his absence.
Walker looks like he will try to suit up in today’s game against Wisconsin. The Buckeyes play Wisconsin today at 4 pm on CBS. According to coach Chris Holtmann, it’s all up to the pain tolerance that Walker has with the hand. It doesn’t look like he can injure that hand any further.
He comes back against a very tough opponent in Wisconsin. They are the 10th ranked team in the country and have only lost 3 games all season long. Normally, this game would be a lot harder to win at the Kohl Center because the fans there are really loud. The Buckeyes won’t have to navigate that obstacle today.
Like it has been every game, this game will come down to Ohio State’s ability to shoot the three. They shot it pretty well against Purdue, hitting 40% of them, but still came up short. That’s because their defense fell by the wayside late. They will have to be better against the Badgers.
Ohio State faces a familiar face in Micah Potter. The former Buckeye leads the Badgers in rebounds and is second on the team in points. Defending him will be a big key in the game today. E.J. Liddell will have to step out on him as Potter hits 40% of his three-point attempts.
Prediction: Ohio State 70 Wisconsin 78
Wisconsin is such a well-balanced team on both sides of the ball. Ohio State is coming off a tough loss. I can’t see the Buckeyes being able to bounce back and win this one. It’s unclear how much Walker will play or how effective he will be when he’s out there.
This isn’t a game the Ohio State basketball team has to have, but it would be a great win for their tournament resumé.
