Right now the Ohio State football program is ranked second in the 2021 recruiting rankings. They can still jump up to that number one spot.

This is the best Ohio State football recruiting class in program history. The class has plenty of star power, and yet is not the best class in the country. That honor currently goes to Alabama (of course, the Buckeyes are number two to Bama again). That can be changed though.

The Buckeyes can still do some work on that ranking before Signing Day rolls around. They are still in the mix for two top-50 players. Yesterday, we told you that the Buckeyes are hosting one of those recruits in Raesjon Davis this weekend.

Grabbing Davis alone might be enough to push Ohio State ahead of the Crimson Tide in the rankings. According to 247Sports, Bama only has a 13 point lead on the Bucks. Snagging a top-45 recruit like Davis could give Ohio State the ranking points they need.

Stealing Davis is a longshot though. Who doesn’t seem to be a longshot is J.T. Tuimoloau coming to Columbus. He has been projected to choose Ohio State for a couple of months now. While he has not given any official word on when he will make his choice, he will probably wait until Signing Day.

Snagging Tuimoloau would definitely be enough to push Ohio State ahead of Alabama in those rankings. Tuimoloau is the third-best recruit in the country. Bama isn’t in line to get anyone in the top-45 on that February 3rd deadline. Only Ohio State figures to be active for top-tier recruits.

A lot can happen between now and February 3rd. The Buckeyes’ ranking right now is still the best in school history. Even if Ohio State can’t catch Bama in the final recruiting rankings, they have a strong start to finish number one in 2022. That class is loaded with unbelievable prospects.
