Ohio State football has long enjoyed having a dominant line year in and year out and the Buckeyes are poised to add a player to continue that tradition.

The Ohio State football program has had a string of dominant and successful defensive linemen going back 5+ years. Between the Bosa brothers and Chase Young, Ohio State has had the top defensive lineman taken in the draft in three of the last six drafts.

The standard and expectation is for Larry Johnson’s group to continue this performance. With crystal ball predictions changing recently, Ohio State seems to be in the best position to add another future star.

This week, two of 247 Sports top experts put in their crystal ball picks for J.T. Tuimoloau, both expecting the defensive lineman to sign with the Buckeyes. Tuimoloau would be a huge 5-star pick up for Ohio State and would add a second top defensive lineman in the 2021 class.

Tuimoloau is the third-best player in the country in this class and the big man’s recruitment is likely coming down to Washington, Alabama, and Ohio State.

Ohio State lacked a bonafide star on last year’s line with no player receiving the national attention as the Bosas or Chase Young before. The interior was the best part of the line and Larry Johnson will be looking for the current roster to step up and produce a top talent on the edge.

One thing that helps players rise to the top is having to push themselves, knowing that top talent is approaching behind them on the depth chart. While Tuimoloau would likely need to wait a season or two before becoming a starter, he could help as soon as next year by providing depth and pushing those ahead of him.

Buckeye Nation will be eagerly looking at the line to see who steps up both next year and for the future, and the addition of Tuimoloau would be a huge addition to the 2021 class.
