Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer set to become Jaguars Head Coach
It has been reported by multiple sources that the Jacksonville Jaguars and former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer are finalizing a deal to make him the head coach of the Jaguars.
Shad Khan and Urban Meyer have met several times to discuss the head coaching opportunity. It is believed that Urban has been assembling his coaching staff which includes coaches from the college ranks. Current negotiations taking place now involve upgrades to facilities and multi-year deals for his coaching staff. The deal could be finalized as early as today.
If Urban is hired, he will have the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. It is assumed that Trevor Lawrence will be the new franchise quarterback for the Jaguars.
After a 1-15 record in 2020, this will not be an overnight success for Meyer and the Jaguars. They will have the highest cap space going into the offseason with $74 million. Jaguars owner Shad Khan has had his mindset on Meyer to turn around his franchise since firing Doug Marrone on January 4th.
No question Urban can be the one to make the Jaguars Super Bowl contenders. With a 187-32 college coaching record, he proved he could win at every school he coached at; Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State.

Winning 3 national championships during his career at both Florida and Ohio State, Meyer will look to bring a winning culture to Jacksonville. This will be a different challenge than anything he has done before. The NFL is a different beast. It will be interesting to see if he succeeds.
