Ohio State Football: Buckeyes will score 45 points against Alabama
After a firepower offense performance against the Clemson defense in the Sugar Bowl, the Ohio State football team will need a similar performance to beat Alabama.
The Ohio State football program is 304-1-1 when the Buckeyes score more than 35 points. The only loss occurred in 2014 when Ohio State lost to Clemson 35-40. I know this Alabama offense is one of the most talented offenses in college football history. But, the Buckeyes offense can outperform the Alabama offense especially if Justin Fields can perform as he did against Clemson.
Similar to the Sugar Bowl in 2015, it is ‘Ohio Against The World’ yet again for the Buckeyes. Programs like Texas A&M, Florida, Clemson, and even Alabama didn’t even think the Buckeyes were deserving to belong in the College Football Playoff. After destroying Clemson, sounds like Dabo and Gators’ Dan Mullen are awfully quiet after getting stomped in their respective bowl games.
It is going to take some explosive plays to get the edge over Alabama in this game. With Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and offensive guru Ryan Day, I don’t think the Buckeyes will have an issue executing against this subpar Alabama defense.
I think Trey Sermon has another breakout game both rushing and making plays catching passes out of the backfield. It will be surprising if Sermon doesn’t get over 120 yards rushing and at least 1 touchdown.
Justin Fields is going to have another big-time performance that will forever go down in Buckeye history. With 300 passing yards combined with 5 touchdowns, this should be enough offensive firepower for the Buckeyes. As always, there will be one drive where we don’t score in the red zone and have to settle for a field goal.
Our defense is going to come to play led by defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs. Shaun Wade is going to limit Devonta Smith ensuring there are no big plays generated by the Heisman Trophy winner. Our front seven is going to contain Najee Harris as well. With 4 stops from this Buckeye defense, this should be sufficient enough to gain the necessary lead to claim the National Title.
Two historic programs clashing in the most unprecedented season in the history of college football for the national championship.
I’m going to take the over, Buckeyes will cover and the Buckeyes win 45-35 to capture the 2020 CFP National Championship.
