The Ohio State basketball team beat Rutgers in a game that they showed great resilience in. Unfortunately, the win came at a cost.

The Ohio State basketball team beat Rutgers 79-68 in a game that looked like it was going to get away from the Buckeyes. They were down 26-20 with 7:48 left in the first half. They were down because they had given up a 10-0 run to the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers never got that much of a lead again. The Buckeyes then finished the half on a 22-4 run and led by 12 at the half. Their lead got as high as 22 and they made sure that Rutgers never got within 7 points of the lead and the Bucks held on after a late Rutgers surge.

Duane Washington led the way with 17 points on 6-14 shooting, including 4-8 from three. E.J. Liddell added 15 points and 6 rebounds, and Kyle Young had himself a double-double. Four starters had double-digit points in this game.

While Ohio State did win the game, did this at a cost. Jimmy Sotos, who had to start for the injured C.J. Walker, left late in the game with a right shoulder injury. He injured it after diving for a loose ball. The injury did not look good and he left the court in a lot of pain.

If Sotos is out for an extended period of time, the point guard position is extremely thin. Meechie Johnson, who made his debut today, will have to take a larger role in the offense. Johnson didn’t do a whole lot out on the court today but will have to moving forward.

A win is a win, and it’s a win the Buckeyes needed to have.
