Ohio State football: This is why the Buckeyes will beat Clemson
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has been waiting for this moment for a year now. This is their time to get revenge, and they will not be denied.
The Ohio State football program has a very proud history. They boast 8 national championships, 39 Big Ten championships, and are the second-winningest program in college football history. They are a program that knows how to seize moments.
This is as big a moment as the Buckeyes have had in the last 10 years. They get a chance to show the world that the disrespect they have dealt with is unwarranted. They get to show that even though they only played six games, they are still the best team in the country.
That chance starts tonight at 8 pm when they take on Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. Dabo has been as vocal as anyone about the disrespect. From ranking the Buckeyes 11th in his final poll to saying the Buckeyes didn’t deserve to make the playoff because of their schedule. He doesn’t respect the Buckeyes.
Ohio State will show the world why they deserve respect. They have one of the dynamic offenses in the country when healthy. They should be mostly healthy for this game. They will get Chris Olave back. Olave is Justin Fields‘ favorite target and should have a big game.
Defensively, Ohio State has what it takes to stop the Clemson offense. Their defensive line is elite and will be able to win battles at the line of scrimmage. The Tigers haven’t faced a team that controls the point of attack like the Buckeyes’ defensive line can.
Ohio State will play physical, tough, and smart. It’s a combination that will lead them to victory. With all of the talk about how weak Ohio State’s schedule was, Clemson’s wasn’t that good either. They haven’t faced as complete of a team as these Buckeyes are.
It will be a close game. Clemson is a very good team and deserves all of the accolades that they get. But the Buckeyes are just better. Their talent will show out today and they will walk out of the Superdome with a victory and a chance to win yet another national title.
