The Ohio State basketball team thoroughly dominated Nebraska in a win that got them back to .500 in Big Ten play.

The Ohio State basketball team was coming off a bad one-point loss to Northwestern. It was a game that they had a lead in and should have won. They had a great opportunity tonight to get back to .500 in the Big Ten. They did that and then some.

This game was never close. Ohio State was up 17 after the first half and looked good. The bench was the star of this game, scoring 47 of Ohio State’s 90 points. They were led by Justin Ahrens, who had 18 points and shot 6-9 from behind the arc.

Seth Towns added 11 points and Zed Key had 14 points as well. Both players are going to be key for this team as this team heads into the teeth of their Big Ten schedule. The bench did all of this without Musa Jallow, who was out because of COVID tracing.

Duane Washington finally didn’t have a stinker. He had 13 points on 5-11 shooting after starting 0-3. He still isn’t super efficient and forces some bad shots, but it was better than his 1-9 effort that he had against Northwestern. The defense of this team is what led to this 90-54 rout.

Nebraska only shot 28% from the field. They also only shot 15% from three-point range as well. It was hard to tell if that was because of Ohio State’s great defense or just because Nebraska’s offense is truly that bad. It was probably a little bit of both to be honest.

dark. Next. Ohio State's defensive line has to be elite in the Sugar Bowl

Ohio State needed this win. They have to beat the teams they should beat in Big Ten play because the conference is so tough. Their goal is probably to just finish .500 in the conference and that should be plenty good enough to get in the NCAA tourney.
