Former Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins about to be out of the NFL

Ohio State football has been blessed recently with some strong quarterback play. One of their former QB’s is about to find himself out of the league because of his own poor decisions.

The Ohio State football team doesn’t have a long history of successful quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact, currently, the only former Ohio State quarterback in the league is Dwayne Haskins. But if he keeps acting the way he has been, he’s not going to be in the league for long.

Haskins just got released by the Washington Football Team without even completing two full seasons with the team after being the 15th overall pick in 2019. They didn’t even want him as an emergency quarterback in a win-and-in scenario on Sunday.

That tells the story right there. The team that drafted him didn’t want him in a game that could decide their playoff fate. It doesn’t get any lower than that. He is now without a team and doesn’t have any prospects on a new team. Haskins is in a bind.

The problem is that Haskins has many issues. He doesn’t have good film out there for other teams. He hasn’t done a good job when he’s actually been out on the field. Haskins looks overmatched, underprepared, and lost. Quite honestly, he doesn’t look like an NFL quarterback.

All of that would be bad enough. But the reason Haskins got released from Washington is because of his immaturity. He has done several things off the field that got him in bad graces with the coaching staff. Going to a club without wearing a mask and breaking COVID protocol is just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Haskins has a lot to work on personally. He said as much on his Twitter page. He now has to convince other NFL teams that he can do that and mature quickly. Maybe a reunion with Urban Meyer would do him good, but that doesn’t seem likely.

There are plenty of teams that need a quarterback at the end of the season. It’s up to Haskins to show those teams that he is worth taking a chance on.
