#1: A Notre Dame victory

The final thing on the Ohio State Buckeyes’ wish list is for Notre Dame to win their first-round matchup against Alabama. Notre Dame is by far a worse team than Alabama in both the eye test and on paper.

However, if they can find and abuse a mismatch or two and somehow pull off the upset of the year it would be the best-case scenario for the Buckeyes.

If Ohio State beats Clemson in their first-round matchup, it should be a walk in the park to beat the Fighting Irish. In the ACC Championship, the Irish were destroyed by the Tigers in what was a demoralizing game for Notre Dame. Especially after Notre Dame managed to beat the Tigers earlier in the regular season.

It would be a much harder path to a championship if Ohio State was forced to play the best and second-best team in the country. Along with this, if the Buckeyes have to play Clemson and then Alabama they will be forced to face off against two Heisman finalist quarterbacks in back to back weeks.

This would be a tall task for any team let alone one that has only played under half of the games that they have during a normal season. The Fighting Irish do not have a game-changing player or anyone that has had the season that Lawrence has had to Clemson or Jones has had for Alabama.

In fact, if the Buckeyes were to face off against the Fighting Irish, Fields would without a doubt be the best player to step foot on the field that game.

Next. Ohio State needs to learn from last year. dark

The Buckeyes will be begging Santa that if they are able to get past Clemson in the first round, Notre Dame will be waiting for them in the National Championship.
